Hey everybody Eric right here with SmallCabinPlansOnline.Com, its May so we have experienced a great deal of rain here in the mid-west but everybody understands that this is not gonna to be the final amount of rainfall we get this year, so we will be talking a little about garden mulch today.

Smart Herb Garden

Use both well-matured compost and mulch in your garden. Compost will naturally help plants grow faster, taller, and healthier, and increase the yield of your vegetables. Garden mulch helps prevent the growth of weeds. Mulch also shades the ground around the roots of your plants, protecting them from heat and conserving water.

If you need the extra ammunition to rage war on weeds, consider planting your plants closer together even if it means planting them closer than what is recommended. Dense plantings will ensure that no seeds from unwanted weeds will sprout and grow in your beautiful landscape design. If weeds begin to sprout near the edge of the foliage, consider adding heavy garden mulch to drown out the pesky weeds.

Now we all know this precipitation is not gonna last forever, it will probably rain only a couple of times more this summer. The soil as you can tell remains pretty moist, but our temperatures are likely to be up into the nineties here in just under a month. As you can see this multi-layer is just regular hay that you can obtain from your local hardware or farming store. The top layer is pretty dry however, it's now pretty windy since it stopped raining yesterday. When you are living  here you will see that beneath the soil it is still really moist after a sizable rain this will help the garden mulch stay moist. Now in June and later in the summer time like August this will be a lifesaver for people, not only will it keep the soil moist prior to the fall you will not need to drag your hose around as much so you are really gonna lower your labor for watering pretty substantially with the use of just a little bit of garden mulch.

Another good reason we really desire to use garden mulch inside our gardens is really because probabilities are it will most likely be tough for weed seeds to take root in some thing like this kind of mulch. You can see here around the sides it was really starting get some weeds. Again this will lower your labor when working in your garden.

Hydroponics Indoor Gardening Systems

There's also a few suggestions to ad here when utilizing garden mulch a good rule of thumb is the instant the mulch begins touching the leaves of the plants you are most likely gonna start having some issues with dampness this may cause some fungus, along with some possible bug problems, just make certain the leaves on the plants aren't touching.

You'll discoverr that using garden mulch is really gonna decrease the amount of maintenance to perform in your gardening. For SmallCabinPlansOnline.Com I’m Eric Ardan.

green movement1. Green Movement – Economical light bulbs.

Conventional light bulbs use large amounts of energy compared to the new fluorescent bulbs. These bulbs do save on energy, however if you are on a budget the price is a little high and if your a stickler for following directions then throwing them away may be a problem.

2. Natural light is the best light.

Open up your drapes let the sun shine in. The sun is an amazing source that alot of us just don't use effectively. It gives us heat, light and even vitaim E.

3. Watering your gardengreen movement

This may seem like a "No Brainer" but be sure to irrigate your garden or lawn in the morning or in the evening. Watering in the afternoon wastes more water due to evaporation.

4. Reuse and recycle.

This is a big one for me in the green movement. I live in a tiny house so space is a issue for me. It is important that when you make a purchase that you find items that multi task.

5. Shower instead of taking a bath.

As I said before I live in a small cabin I use a water tank that has to be filled manually so conserving water is a must. Showering is the best way to do this. Get a little wet, soap up, then rinse off. Thats all there is to it.

green movement 6. Control the temperature correctly.

Keep your air conditioning use to a minimume. Use fans to cool, and blinds to keep the sun form heating your tiny house.

7. Turn your refrigerator down

One of the most energy consuming appliances in your home is the refrigerator. Be sure that you select the correct tempature setting and be sure to minimize the length of time you keep the door open.

8. Unplug your appliances.

This is a big one that no one does including myself. Unplug your appliances when your not using them. Coffee makers microwave ovens all these use energy even when they are not being used.

9. Stop the leaks.

In the green movement be sure to check your windows and other places in your tiny house plans that may have gaps or holes. Use some calk or weather stripping to plug the holes to help save big cash on your heating and cooling bills.

10. Make your own cleaning products or buy eco friendly cleaners.

I no longer buy household cleaners first of all they are expensive and two most arent all that eco friendly. I use a combination of vinager, dish soap, and alcohol works great for an all pourpose cleaner.

I hope that these ten easy to do energy and water ideas will help you to save a little money and maybe just maybe make your life a little more easier.

Easy Ways To Buy Cheap Rural Land For Sale

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

tiny house plansTiny House Plans – Finding Rural Land For Sale

I am assuming that if you are looking at living the tiny house and small cabin lifestyle, that you are first looking to find a plot of land to put your tiny house on. In this short post I am going to show you some easy ways to locate and purchase a plot of rural land for sale using some very easy purchasing techniques.

Where to find rural land for sale

Finding rural land for sale these days is actually very easy. There really is not much to it, I recommend just dong a quick Google search for “Where To Find Rural Land For Sale.” and you will find plenty of sites that are posting rural land for sale. I suggest Craigslist also. It is still a very good source for finding people who are eager to get rid of there land, if your lucky land with a tiny house already on it. If you are not a computer person then you can use the local paper. Just turn to the classifieds look under the “For Sale By Owner.” There should be a good list to at least start calling on.

Techniques For Buying Rural Land For Sale

There are many ways other than the conventional way to find and purchase your rural land for your tiny house plans. After you have found some properties to call on there are some techniques that will help you find the best deal on rural land for sale. The first method of buying rural land for sale is.

For Sale By Owner

rural land for sale

Rural land for sale properties are often more affordable in a for sale by owner deal, provided the seller lowers the price of their property by the 6%-7% normally paid to a real estate agent. Be sure that you do your homework when dealing with a For Sale by Owner deal, so the savings you realize by leaving out a professional won’t come back to bite you later on when building your tiny house plans.

Lease Purchase

lease to own

This type of rural land for sale deal is on the increase and for those concerned over where the market is headed, this approach is safest. Typically, you will pay the normal first month’s payment, last month’s payment, and deposit as you would with a rental property, and a portion of the monthly “rent” goes towards your down payment. The benefit of a lease-purchase is that you can live the tiny house lifestyle, but should the market take a nose-dive, the price can be renegotiated before purchase. Have a professional look over the paperwork of a lease purchase before committing to it.

Raw Land

raw land

This option is for a handyman who has the skills to build their own cabin using tiny house plans or for those who plan to have their dwelling professionally built.

One of the biggest upfront costs and risks of buying raw rural land for sale is drilling a well. It helps to have a perk test done on the property-this is normally provided by the seller-but my advice is to request the owner pay to have the well dug and roll the costs back into the property sales contract. It takes out the guesswork.

Consider yourself a DIY'er? If so checkout the Tiny House DIY Book HERE

Mortgages have never been available on raw, unimproved land, as mortgage lenders attach the improvement (home or cabin), rather than the land, should a borrower default. Before the recent real estate crash, owners often held out for a cash sale on raw land, but those days are long gone, leaving sellers open to owner-carry contracts. When negotiating the interest rate on a loan, keep in mind that the interest rate you pay the seller will be far better than what the banks are paying for interest accrued on monies sitting idly in an account. There is always room for negotiation!

Those are some of the easy techniques that you can use to purchase your rural land for sale. In the real estate market of today finding raw land for sale is really quiet easy. Now that you have found and bought your land its time to find some tiny house plans and get to building.

Furnace Replacement The Wood Burning Stove

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

A tiny house doesn’t need an actual furnace, so the furnace replacement is an important one. That is why I use a wood burning stove.

When I was designing my tiny house, I was thinking about how the house could be used both on and off the grid. To heat my tiny house, I included a wood burning stove. If you are looking to purchase a new stove as a furnace replacement you are going to find that there are a number of models and styles that you can choose from.

The first thing that you should do is be sure that you are even able to use a wood burning stove in your area. The EPA is has gotten way out of control and in some new construction areas you have to have an EPA approved wood burning stove. I placed my furnace replacement in my tiny house for emergency survival use. (I could really care less what the EPA has to say furnace replacement about it.)

What to look for in a furnace replacement wood burning stove:

The best way to begin your hunt for the perfect furnace replacement is to just keep in mind these key things when purchasing a wood burning stove.

  • My budget
  • Usage
  • How much space needs heat
  • Safety issues

TIP: Size matters to small wont heat the room. To big you will be forced to reduce the air flow which will greatly reduce the efficiency of the wood burning stove.

I myself like to do things on my own, so I used a set of plans I found on the internet. Built my own furnace replacement using a electric water heater and some friends with a cut torch and welder get the plans HERE.

See how to install a furnace replacement – wood burning stove  HERE.

(Remember: Since this article/plans for this electric water heater wood burning stove was published in 1978, building codes and homeowners insurance rules have changed, and federal rules governing wood stoves have been adopted. This stove design may not comply with various federal and local regulations. Readers are advised to check with appropriate officials before installing this stove in their homes. — SmallCabinPlansOnline.Com)

If you have any further questions I suggest calling a local dealer. They will know what types of specs are common in your area and what permits if any are needed.

I know we mentioned three ways two ways that included burring partially and totally. I DO NOT recommend this method. The walls and top of the steel shipping containers are not built to with stand constant pressure and will eventually cave in.

Backyard Landscape Designs For Your Tiny House

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmailby feather

Get your tiny house backyard landscape designs ready in time for the fall season.

backyard landscape designsHaving a tiny house or small cabin should give you a feeling of peacefulness and tranquility. Now that the fall season is upon us, its time to start thinking about your tiny house backyard landscape designs. A woodland landscaping design is a great way to set your small cabins outside ambiance.

First thing you will want to do is use woodland plants (CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF WOODLAND PLANTS) these plants perform best in spotted shade.

When you plant these be sure to not use straight lines, using a curving and unpredictable pattern will make it look more natural. The next thing to do is, if your plants do not have enough shade plant some trees. I prefer to use trees that are more common to my area. However, if you are looking for a faster growing type of tree then I recommend a spruce or pine. Be sure you add color to your backyard landscape designs. Use ferns and wildflowers, plant them under your trees to add texture to the landscaping design. Another important thing to consider is adding plants that are more resistant to deer, you are living in the woods so if you want to keep your landscaping maintenance to minimum it best that you do.pergola

Step two, enjoy your landscape designs. If you are like me then having a tiny house is all about enjoying your landscaping design. I have a pergola that I sit under to appreciate my gardening landscaping. I used some river rocks to make a patio, added a brick fire place and viola, a beautiful place to have friends and family over to relax and take in the beauty of your landscape designs.

To add some extra beauty to your landscaping design put in a water feature like a small pond with a fountain in it. These ponds are perfect for attracting wildlife and birds. Hope you add some of these features to your tiny house backyard landscape designs.
